2 lbs russet or Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and diced
4 tbsp butter
½ cup heavy cream (or milk)
2 cloves garlic, minced (optional for extra flavor)
Salt & pepper to taste
Chopped chives for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Peel and Dice the Potatoes
Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks.
This ensures they cook evenly and mash smoothly. - Boil the Potatoes
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.
Boil for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender. - Drain and Mash
Drain the potatoes well and return them to the pot.
Mash with a potato masher or hand mixer until smooth. - Prepare the Creamy Mixture
